Prerequisites for installation of IBM Remote Connect Version 1.03 for the Netfinity family of Servers 1). Customer must profile all Netfinity Servers to be monitored with the Remote Connect service along with your E-mail address to receive your personal Account/UserID and a phone number for IBM support to contact the customer at is required for the installation process. The customer profiling form can be found on the World Wide WEB at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?page=profile 2). You will receive a Remote Connect E-mail message within one business day containing the Account and UserID required for communications configuration. The E-mail will also contain instructions and a URL location to download the required software and documentation to complete the installation and configuration. 3). A workstation with the following installed and configured must be attached to the Netfinity logical network; Workstation Software Requirements Workstation Hardware Requirements -OS/2 WARP 4 with Fix Pack 7,8 or 9 | 486/66 MHz Processor or greater (additional platform support in 1999) | 32 MB Memory or greater | 512 MB Hard drive or greater Netfinity Manager 5.2 or higher | Modem, 28.8 or greater (Included with your Netfinity Server | (Hayes compatible) in ServerGuide) | Tone, Analog Phone Line Attached 4). Install the OS2 WARP 4 with FIX PACK 7/8/9 on the manager workstation as per OS2 WARP 4 installation and FIX PACK software documentation. 5). Install Netfinity Manager 5.2 on the manager workstation as per the Netfinity software documentation. 6). Install Netfinity Services on the server(s) as per Netfinity software documentation. 7). After completing registration and receiving the E-mail containing your Account, UserID and instructions for downloading the IBM Remote Connect client code and documentation, perform the following using the installation documentation; a. Install/configure IBM Remote Connect client code and configure Netfinity Manager on the workstation as per the IBM Remote Connect installation instructions. b. Configure Netfinity Services code on each Netfinity server as per the IBM Remote Connect installation instructions. 8). After completing the IBM Remote Connect installation instructions, double click on the "Alert IBM Remote Support" icon in the IBM Remote Connect folder of the Remote Connect Agent, on the Management Workstation. a. If IBM Remote Connect is installed correctly an IBM Remote Support representative will contact the designated individual from the phone number contact information in your registration profile found at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?page=profile b. If IBM does not call back within a one hour, the installation or configuration may have not worked properly, please contact the IBM Service Support Center at 1-800-946-4660 between 9am and 5pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the USA and report you are having a problem with your IBM REMOTE CONNECT Installation.
