Using the hotel mode of "Grundig" TVs
Newer Grundig TV sets can be switched to "hotel mode". What's that?
Two nice features don't work any more with hotel mode activated: After pressing
i the contrast regulation appears instead of the large menu "info center"
and there is a limit of volume. It can't be made too loud. Turn hotel mode
on:
- Switch on TV. The selected channel is unimportant, but select one.
-
Make sure that all things are correct, tuning etc. You can't change anything
anymore with hotel mode on...
-
press i to pop up the info center.
-
choose "special functions" (or the like)
-
choose "service"
-
type in the secret code. The code can be found somewhere in the repair manual
which can be found printed onto the large circuit diagram. Normally it is
8500. This is the old german ZIP of Nuernberg, the HQ of Grundig.
-
turn on "hotel mode"
-
choose the max limit for the volume. Later it is impossible to set the volume
above this limit.
-
close the menu by pressing i.
That was interesting, wasn't it? But now there is a really big problem: How
to turn off this feature? Access to the menus is impossible... Here comes
the trick:
-
turn on TV, channel unimportant.
-
turn off TV completely with the large key directly on the set (don't use
the remote control).
-
press "P/C" on the remote and hold the button down
-
make sure that the remote points to the IR sensor, then turn on TV with large
key.
-
release "P/C". Turn off hotel mode. Close menu by pressing "i".
Have fun! But: I am responsible for nothing! If you can't turn off your hotel
mode anymore, don't blame me! Better try calling Grundig service.
