There are two parameters that affect the fax-answering machine switching-
setting the switching on and off and setting silent detection on and off.

SETTING THE SWITCHING OFF OR ON

To set the fax-answering machine switching on or off, follow these steps:

1.  Press          # then *.

2.  Enter          3 7.

3.  The parameter is preset to 2 (answering machine connected).
    Enter 1 if you do not connect answering machine.

4.  Press START/ENTER to store the setting.

5.  PRESS STANDBY/STOP.

    Note:  If you connected an answering machine, be sure
    to set the fax machine to the fax-answering machine
    switching mode by pressing RECEIVE MODE so that the
    RECEIVE MODE indicator flashes.  Otherwise, the fax
    machine might fail to receive a fax.


SETTING SPECIAL PARAMETERS

This fax machine has several special parameters which do not need to change
under normal circumstances.

  1.  Press        # then *.

  2.  Enter the parameter's two-digit number.  Precede single-digit codes
      with a 0.

      Example:     Enter 0 1 for the resolution default.

  3.  Enter        The desired setting.

      Example:     Enter 2  
                   to change the default resolution to FINE.

  4.  Press        START/ENTER.

  5.  Repeat Steps
                   2-4 to check or change other parameters.

  6.  Press        STANDBY/STOP
                   after you set the desired parameters.
