INTERNAL BATTERY POWER

Your TV requires six C batteries.  We recommend alkaline batteries (such
as Radio Shack's Cat. No. 23-551).  You also can use rechargeable nickel-
cadmium batteries (Cat. No. 23-124).  Follow these instructions to install
batteries.

1.  Open the battery pack by pressing on the two locking tabs.

2.  Insert the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    shown in the battery pack.

3.  Place the cover over the batteries so that FRONT on the outside of the
    cover and FRONT on the outside of the battery compartment are at the
    same end.  Press down until the compartment snaps into place.

4.  To operate the TV with alkaline batteries, use a pen or small
    screwdriver to set the RECHARGE switch on the TV's side, to OFF.  For
    rechargeable batteries, set the switch to ON.

WARNING:  Be sure to check the RECHARGE setting for the batteries you have
          installed.  If you try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries,
          they become hot and can explode.

5.  Connect the battery pack to the TV so that the terminals on the
    battery pack match those on the bottom of the TV, and slide the
    battery pack into place.

6.  Connect the TV's metal loop to the battery pack's plastic lever.

7.  To disconnect the battery pack, disconnect the metal loop, hold the TV
    with the screen facing you and pull the battery pack toward you.

CAUTION:  Improper battery installation might blow the TV's internal fuse.
          You cannot replace this fuse.  If it blows, you must take the TV
          to a qualified technician for service.

NOTE:  When battery power is low, the picture becomes smaller.  Replace
       all the batteries with new ones.

Charging Tips

The nickel-cadmium batteries you can use to power this TV do not react
like the battery in your car.  Your car battery lasts longer if you keep
it charged fully at all times, but nickel-cadmium batteries work in the
opposite way.

Occasionally let them fully discharge.  If you never let them fully
discharge, they "forget" how much power they can deliver.

For a full charge, recharge the batteries for about 20 hours.  Then, you
can use the batteries for 1 continuous hour.  Follow these guidelines for
recharging batteries:

1.  Set RECHARGE on the TV to ON.

2.  Connect the battery pack.

3.  Connect the AC adapter to the TV and to a standard AC outlet.

NOTE:  The batteries receive a charge only when the TV is off.

AC POWER

Follow these steps to operate your TV using AC power.

1.  Plug the adapter into the DC 7.5V jack on the back of the TV.  This
    disconnects battery power if RECHARGE is set to OFF.

2.  Plug the other end of the adapter into any standard AC wall outlet.

CAUTION:  The supplied adapter supplies 7.5 volts with the center tip set
          to negative and delivers the 850 milliamps the TV draws, and its
          plug properly fits the TV's DC 7.5 jack.  Using an adapter that
          does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the TV
          or the adapter.

WARNING:  If batteries are connected while using AC power, make sure
          RECHARGE is OFF for non-rechargeable batteries and ON for
          rechargeable batteries.  If you try to recharge non-rechargeable
          batteries, they become hot and can explode.

VEHICLE BATTERY POWER

If your vehicle has a 12-volt, negative-ground electrical system, you can
operate your TV using your vehicle's battery.

1.  Insert the small plug of the provided DC adapter cord into the DC 7.5V
    jack on your TV.

2.  Insert the large plug of the DC adapter cord into your vehicle's
    cigarette lighter socket.

CAUTIONS:  Do not use your vehicle battery if it does not have a 12-volt
           negative-ground electrical system.

           To prevent damage to your TV or your vehicle, always unplug the
           adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you remove the
           plug from the DC 7.5V jack.

           The supplied adapter supplies 7.5 volts with the center tip set
           to negative an delivers the 850 milliamps the TV draws, and its
           plug properly fits the TV's DC 7.5V jack.  Using an adapter
           that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage
           the TV and the adapter.
