USING ANOTHER POWER SOURCE

With the proper adapter, you can operate the SCP-64 from an AC outlet or
your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket.

Note:  Connecting an optional adapter disconnects the internal batteries.

USING AC POWER

To power the SCP-64 from an AC outlet, you need an AC adapter (not
supplied), such as Cat. No. 273-1654.

Caution:  You must use an adapter that supplies 3 volts DC power and
          delivers at least 300 milliamps.  Its center tip must be set
          to negative, and its plug must properly fit the SCP-64's DC 3V
          jack.  Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications
          could damage the SCP-64 or the adapter.

1.  Set the adapter's voltage switch to 3V.

2.  Attach the black plug to the adapter's cord to read TIP NEG.

3.  Insert the plug into the SCP-64's DC 3V jack.

4.  Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.


USING YOUR VEHICLE'S CIGARETTE-LIGHTER SOCKET

You can power the SCP-64 from your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket.
This connection requires a DC adapter, such as Cat. No. 270-1560.

Cautions:  The vehicle must have a 12-volt DC, negative-ground electrical
           system.

           To protect the vehicle's electrical system, always plug the
           adapter into the SCP-64 before you plug it into the cigarette-
           lighter socket.  Always unplug the adapter from the cigarette-
           lighter socket before you unplug it from the SCP-64.

           You must use an adapter that supplies 3 volts DC power and
           delivers at least 300 milliamps.  Its center tip must be set
           to negative, and its plug must properly fit the SCP-64's DC 3V
           jack.  Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications
           could damage the SCP-64 or the adapter.

Follow these steps to power the SCP-64 from your vehicle's cigarette-
lighter socket.

1.  Set the adapter's voltage switch to 3V.

2.  Plug the orange-tipped barrel plug into the adapter's cord with the
    tip set to negative (-).

3.  Insert the barrel plug into the SCP-64's DC 3V jack.

4.  Plug the other end of the adapter into the vehicle's cigarette-lighter
    socket.
