The Tandy 85MB SmartDrive (also called IDE drive) is a high-speed hard disk
drive with a built-in drive controller. This manual covers both drives.

NOTE: Use the appropriate instructions for the capacity of your drive.

The many features of the drives include:

* 85,106,688 bytes formatted capacity
* 3 1/2" form factor
* emulation of IBM Task File
* built-in AT hard disk controller with Intelligent Drive Electronics
* sub 18-millisecond (ms) average seek time (85MB)
* 8.34-ms average latency time
* 1:1 interleave ratio
* 32KB buffer (85MB)
* adaptive segmented "cache flow"
* automatic head relocation (parking) at power-down

Both drives were low-level formatted at the factory. It is not necessary to
low-level format them during the installation process.

PACKAGE CONTENTS

Your drive contains a 3 1/2" 85MB SmartDrive (IDE hard drive) and a
drive cable. A SmartDrive connector on the computer's main logic board or on
an expansion adapter is required to use the SmartDrive.

Four machine screws are provided with your computer or are available from
your computer dealer. Mounting hardware used to install the drive is also
available from your computer dealer.
